On September 9, 2026, Global Research will be celebrating its 25th anniversary.
Born two days before the 9/11 attack, Global Research had a simple objective: to be an independent platform for voices challenging the dominant narratives. Among our first articles were investigative reports and analyses on the tragic 9/11 attack and the subsequent invasion of Afghanistan.
Since then, the world has changed profoundly. Wars, economic crises, and new technologies have reshaped entire regions and transformed societies. Powerful global elites have controlled how information is produced and consumed. Now, censorship has become more sophisticated. In an increasingly digital media environment, information is suppressed by controlling its visibility, distribution, and reach. Critical independent voices are buried by algorithms and search engines.
Fortunately, 25 years on, and with more than 114,964 articles (and over 15,000 contributors, see our Archives), Global Research has evolved into a dynamic research and media organization, serving as a vital source of specialized information and analyses for students, journalists, scholars, scientists and politicians alike.
This has been possible because of a community of supporters who stood behind Global Research amidst all the smears, cyberattacks, shadow-ban and other forms of censorship. Our authors, readers, donors, and supporters are our lifeline. The next 25 years are only as crucial as the last one. Without their support, our work will become increasingly difficult to sustain.
For 25 years, we have served as an independent platform for voices challenging the dominant narratives. Help us carry our mission forward.
