Welcome to Mysterious Universe Season 36, episode 11! According to Buddhist doctrine, Agartha is a subterranean land located deep within the center of our planet. Buddhists believe millions of people live in this underground paradise. Their lives and destinies are directed by an all-powerful and all-wise ruler. What wonders lie just beneath us all? We are here today to begin a fascinating saga series titled This Hollow Earth, based on the work of Warren Smith in his 1977 book, This Hollow Earth - The astounding investigation into the 'lost worlds' beneath our planet’s surface.

We are here to ask: is the story of Agharta nothing more than a fun fable, or is there truth behind the legend? Do we know the Earth is solid, with varying layers of deep, dense material that terminates in a solid molten core? Or could there be vast inhabitable spaces we would be astounded to experience?

In Plus+, we look into the growing train of thought that AI and automation are getting better at doing our jobs, and how they may also be slowly dismantling the way humans have always learned to become good at them. From robotic surgery to Michelin kitchens, Matt Beane’s The Skill Code explores how we build real expertise, and how intelligent machines could either destroy that process, or help create an entirely new kind of apprenticeship.
