Here we go again. The latest and greatest new buzz word for the socialist Democrats is affordability. The newly elected socialist mayors tricked voters into voting for them because they promised to make living in their cities “more affordable.” It was a lie. Even worse, these mayors’ policies are likely to do just the opposite and increase the cost of living in these cities.

On Saturday, November 15, Mark Levin, on his television show, demonstrated a cost-of-living comparison between New York, California, New Jersey, and Virginia, all very blue states, with Florida, Texas, Kentucky, and Ohio, all red states. The consumer items compared were housing costs, restaurant meal costs, food costs, transportation costs, clothing costs, and energy costs. In summary, living in blue states costs between 15-35% more than living in red states. Not only does it cost less to live in Florida, Texas, and Kentucky, but there is a big plus; these states have no income tax.

Is there an affordability problem in America? You bet there is; however, it seems to be confined to jurisdictions where Democrats are in control. In places where government has overreached, it simply costs more to live, and Democrats keep tricking their minions into believing that more government can make it better.

It would seem that the socialist Democrats have some major flaws in their approach to governance. The socialist Democrats approach to law-and-order results in cities and states with high crime rates which endanger all their citizens.

The socialist Democrats approach of having an excessive regulatory government structure negatively impacts affordability for their citizens. The socialist approach to social welfare merely keeps people enslaved and dependent on the government. How is that working out? It would seem not only do Democrats fail to deliver on their promises, but what they deliver is exactly the opposite of their promises.

If cost of living and cost of crime is not a wake-up call for those living and working in socialist Democrat controlled jurisdictions, then if you choose to stay in that environment, quit whining about affordability.

These failing socialist enclaves within America’s borders demonstrates, live and up close, that socialism isn’t working any better in the United States than it does anywhere else in the world. I don’t like to use the term always, but socialism always runs out of other people’s money.

Walmart did a study and determined that the 2025 Thanksgiving meal will cost Americans 25% less than it did in 2024. That is simply because American voters pulled the flush handle on the Biden/Obama/autopen socialist government policies on November 5, 2024. Most Americans recognized the situation for what it was and said no to socialism. Those Americans who are still living and working in Democrat controlled jurisdictions have not yet recognized that the socialist policies are only smoke and mirrors to keep them from recognizing reality.

We are seeing costs go down as a result of throwing away the socialist policies of the Biden administration and a return to common sense instigated by the new Trump administration. Free market capitalism works; socialism does not. Affordability is not a problem for necessities in Montana.

It is time for people to escape from states like New York, New Jersey, California, Virginia, and any city where socialist Democrats are trying to control you. Most red states will allow you to have a better quality of life when you escape these socialist influenced jurisdictions. Maybe you don’t think you can afford to move. However, the real question is can you afford to stay? Are you willing to sacrifice your quality of life to stay where you are? If so, bite the bullet and don’t whine about it. If you do move, remember why you left and leave socialist politics behind.
