A driver charged in connection with a fatal crash in Nigeria, which killed two passengers and injured boxer Anthony Joshua, has appeared in court.

Joshua, a two-time world champion, was travelling in the back of a black Lexus SUV when it struck a stationary truck on a major road, near Nigeria's largest city Lagos, on 29 December.

His friends Latif Ayodele and Sina Ghami were killed.

Ghami was Joshua's strength and conditioning coach, while Ayodele was a trainer and described as being like a "twin brother" to Joshua.

Adeniyi Mobolaji Kayode, 46, has been charged with dangerous driving causing death, reckless and negligent driving, driving without due care and attention and driving without a valid national driver's licence.

Kayode appeared at Sagamu Magistrate Court in southwestern Ogun State on Tuesday.

The case was adjourned until 25 February at the prosecution's request.

Joshua, who is British-Nigerian, left hospital a few days after the crash.

He survived with minor injuries, police said.
