Security forces had launched a joint search operation based on specific intelligence input about the presence of terrorists in the area. The operation involved the Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police, and CRPF.
According to a post by the Army's Srinagar-based Chinar Corps on X, vigilant troops observed suspicious movement. When challenged, the terrorists opened fire, triggering a fierce gunfight.
"One terrorist has been eliminated and a junior commissioned officer has sustained injuries," the Chinar Corps said, adding that the operation is still ongoing.
