In 1963, Congressman A.S. Herlong of Florida had a rather long article entered into the Congressional Record regarding goals that had been set to change America into a communist country. This link will take you to the Congressional Record:

There were 45 points made, but I will only address the points that stand out to me as having some degree of success, so far.

Point 3. Develop the illusion that total disarmament by the U.S. would be a demonstration of “moral strength.”

Ever since the 1960s, the socialist in the closet of the old Democrat Party have been trying to sell America on disarmament, just as described in point three above. Thankfully they failed in that effort, but we must remember those efforts continue to this day.

Point 4. Permit free trade between all nations regardless of Communist affiliation and regardless of whether or not items could be used for war.

Of course, the US has tried free trade ever since World War II (World War eleven, if you are Congresswoman Omar). Both our friends and our enemies abused our trade relationships until President Trump came along and fixed them in 2024.

Point 6. Provide American aid to all nations regardless of Communist domination.

Once again, America has provided more foreign aid than any country in the history of the planet. As we found out in 2024, both “friends” and enemies fraudulently abused America’s kindness.

Point 7. Grant recognition of Red China and admission of Red China to the U.N

Mission accomplished, Communist China is a member of the United Nations.

Point 8. Set up East and West Germany as separate states in spite of Khrushchev’s promise in 1955 to settle the Germany question by free elections under supervision of the U.N.

Point 10. Allow all Soviet satellites individual representation in the U.N.

Here are two that were soundly defeated. There no longer is East and West Germany, there is only Germany after President Reagan took down the Soviet Union. Many of the former USSR satellites went their own way.

Point 11. Promote the U.N. as the only hope for mankind. If its charter is rewritten, demand that it be set up as a one-world government with its own independent armed forces.

Many of us are well aware that this effort is alive and well in 2026. American domestic and foreign oligarchs are spending billions of dollars every year to get this communist goal accomplished. The fact that this has been a communist goal for more than 60 years should scare the hell out of every American and Canadian patriot. Bill Gates, George Soros, Klaus Schwab, and Mark Carney are carrying the globalists water for a historic goal of communism.

Point 12. Resist any attempt to outlaw the Communist Party.

The communist clearly didn’t understand America. We don’t outlaw political parties, we let them stand on their own two feet, if they can. So far, communism has been rejected in America at least three times.

Point 13. Do away with loyalty oaths.

America has loyalty oaths for people wishing to become Americans. We also require federal officials to swear to an oath of office. Both only depend on the ethical character of the person who is taking the oath. Sadly, we are seeing a lack of character in federal officials and people who are naturalized citizens, many who are in America to do her harm.

Point 15. Capture one or both of the political parties in the U.S.

Mission accomplished. The old Democrat Party is now owned by the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA). The DSA now has candidates openly running in elections all over America.

Point 16. Use technical decisions of the courts to weaken basic American institutions, by claiming their activities violate civil rights.

Another win for the communists. It is called lawfare and we have too many activists judges mucking up the works of the justice system. This will likely continue until the US Supreme Court takes a stand and points out that the United States Constitution does not give lower courts authority over the Executive Branch of government.

Point 17. Get control of the schools. Use them as transmission belts for Socialism and current Communist propaganda. Soften the curriculum. Get control of teachers associations. Put the party line in textbooks.

Point 18. Gain control of all student newspapers.

Point 19. Use student riots to foment public protests against programs or organizations that are under Communist attack.

Point 20. Infiltrate the press. Get control of book review assignments, editorial writing, policy-making positions.

Point 21. Gain control of key positions in radio, TV & motion pictures

Sadly, the communists have achieved major strides, if not total wins in the above five areas. Despite that reality, communism is still being rejected by most Americans.

Point 24. Eliminate all laws governing obscenity by calling them “censorship” and a violation of free speech and free press.

Point 25. Break down cultural standards of morality by promoting pornography and obscenity in books, magazines, motion pictures, radio and TV.

Point 26. Present homosexuality, degeneracy and promiscuity as “normal, natural and healthy.”

These three items represent more wins for communism. The progressive liberals in the old Democrat Party took the communist goals list and twisted American culture into the sewer it now is. They told us they would do it, and now we are living with that reality.

Point 27. Infiltrate the churches and replace revealed religion with “social” religion. Discredit the Bible and emphasize the need for intellectual maturity, which does not need a “religious crutch.”

Although the communists were in the closet of the Democrat Party, clearly, they have been driving the Democrat train for most of the last half-century. Too many mainstream legacy churches have accepted man’s word and are now denying God’s Word as laid out in the Bible.

No matter how depraved by biblical standards, many legacy churches are celebrating things God and Jesus abhorred. Thankfully, not all Christians are buying into those abominations.

Point 28. Eliminate prayer or any phase of religious expression in the schools on the grounds that it violates the principle of “separation of church and state”

Mission accomplished. However, there are now signs of new enlightenment concerning the separation of church and state.

Point 29. Discredit the American Constitution by calling it inadequate, old fashioned, out of step with modern needs, a hindrance to cooperation between nations on a worldwide basis.

From 2021 to 2025, we saw just how effectively the socialist Democrats could discredit and ignore the United States Constitution. The terms in Point 29 are the exact terms the Democrat Party has been using for decades. That is how deeply communism has infected the Democrat Party.

Point 30. Discredit the American founding fathers. Present them as selfish aristocrats who had no concern for the “common man.”

Here too, that is Democrat speak for the last 50 years. The communist playbook has been in the Congressional Record for more than 60 years, and we didn’t believe them. Shame on us.

Point 31. Belittle all forms of American culture and discourage the teaching of American history on the ground that it was only a minor part of “the big picture.” Give more emphasis to Russian history since the Communists took over.

They certainly have been successful in the first part, but not so much in the second part.

Point 32. Support any socialist movement to give centralized control over any part of the culture– education, social agencies, welfare programs, mental health clinics, etc.

Here, too, is an area where the communists have had a high degree of success. The vast majority of people involved in these activities are Marxists.

Point 34. Eliminate the House Committee on Un-American Activities.

Done decades ago.

Point 36. Infiltrate and gain control of more unions.

This too, has been accomplished. However, I doubt most union members even realize that they are donating to the undercover communists. They still think the Democrat Party is pro-American.

Point 39. Dominate the psychiatric profession and use mental health laws as a means of gaining coercive control over those who oppose communist goals.

As mentioned about Point 32, the whole mental health industry is socialist leaning, and their Diagnostic and Statistical Manual for Mental Health (DSM-5) has exploded with new diagnoses in the last 25 years. I don’t believe that America’s mental health has degenerated in that time. I believe the mental health industry is trying to justify its existence creating new diagnoses.

Point 40. Discredit the family as an institution. Encourage promiscuity and easy divorce.

An important goal of the communists is to break down the traditional family unit in conjunction with breaking down the church. This is an attempt to make “the state” (read government) the most important unit in people’s lives.

Point 41. Emphasize the need to raise children away from the negative influence of parents. Attribute prejudices, mental blocks and retarding of children to suppressive influence of parents.

Wow! Negative and suppressive influence of parents. The biblical, that is to say God’s view, is that parents, preferably a father (male) and a mother (female) raise their children. This is a major stumbling block for communism. However, the public school system is trying to usurp certain responsibilities from parents. Schools need parental permission to administer aspirin, but schools do not seek permission to take a child to an abortion clinic. Communism in action.

Point 42. Create the impression that violence and insurrection are legitimate aspects of the American tradition; that students and special interest groups should rise up and make a “united force” to solve economic, political or social problems.

Another success for communism, one only has to look at what is going on in the streets of America today and in the last decade. Communist goal accomplished.

Point 44. Internationalize the Panama Canal.

As we all know, for a while “internationalizing” the canal worked, until the 47^th President of the United States threw a monkey wrench into that mechanism.

Point 45. Repeal the Connally Reservation so the U.S. cannot prevent the World Court from seizing jurisdiction over domestic problems. Give the World Court jurisdiction over domestic problems. Give the World Court jurisdiction over nations and individuals alike.

This is a solid loss for the communists. There is no inclination for America to ever turn over our sovereignty to the World Court.

So, there you have it. The communists, under the guise of the Democrat Party have been working their plan for about 100 years, and the Congress of the United States has had their plan on record for over 60 years. Yet here we are today. The communist cockroaches started coming out of the Democrat closet with Barack Hussein Obama, then into plain sight with Joe Biden. The silver lining of the dark cloud called the Biden/Harris/autopen/Obama administration, is that America got a little chance to taste what communism was all about. We chewed on it for four years and finally spit it out.

In 2026, the communists are now calling themselves Democratic Socialists of America, even the potential mayor of Washington, DC. There is absolutely nothing democratic about socialists or socialism. Marxism, communism, socialism, and progressivism are “isms” with the goal of control. Control of every aspect of your life to the benefit of the elite ruling class. One only must look at the reality of every socialist/communist country on the planet: Poverty for most people and riches for the self-appointed elites.

The 1963 goals of communism in America have largely been completed as planned, yet not quite enough to close the deal. They had their plan; they worked their plan while Republicans and patriotic Americans were asleep at the wheel. Can patriotic Americans turn the ship away from communism? Will Republicans and patriots turn the ship of state around? Only time will tell. If not, slavery is in the future for America and the free world.
