Orgo-Life the new way to the future Advertising by AdpathwayAs President Trump prepares to deliver his State of the Union address, new polling shows the economy and cost of living overwhelmingly top voter concerns. A recent CNN/SSRS poll finds that 57% of Americans want the president to focus on affordability, while foreign policy ranks near the bottom of priorities. On his handling of the economy, 41% approve, according to a separate Washington Post–ABC News–Ipsos poll. However, Democrats are not dominating the issue either: when voters are asked who they trust more to lower costs, 33% choose Trump, 31% choose Democrats, and 31% say neither. The sharpest warning sign comes from independents — a group that often plays a decisive role in elections — with just 26% approving of the president's performance, the lowest level of either of his terms. Broader sentiment reflects continued frustration, as the Conference Board's Consumer Confidence Index ticked up slightly to 91.2 in February but remains historically soft compared to stronger economic periods. To break down what this means for voters and the broader economic outlook, Alicia Summers spoke with Dale Smothers, President and CEO of RDS Wealth Management, about whether consumer frustration reflects weakening fundamentals, lingering economic effects, or simply a disconnect between headline data and everyday costs.
