Donald Trump was at it again Tuesday when he hosted the U.S. men’s ice hockey team — fresh off winning gold at the 2026 Milan Cortina Winter Olympics — in the Oval Office and joked about keeping one of the players’ medals.

“Yeah, I’ll put it on. Absolutely. I’m not giving it back,” the bling-obsessed president teased Matthew Tkachuk after the Florida Panthers forward offered Trump his medal to try on.

“Hey, that’s cool. I never thought I’d ever have this on me,” Trump added.

Video of the moment, shared online by Trump White House communications adviser Margo Martin, quickly went viral — amid continued controversy over degrading comments that Trump made about the U.S. women’s hockey team, which also won gold in Italy.

Trump has a history of making similar trophy- and medal-keeping quips.

He previously joked about being able to “say I won them athletically” after being gifted a set of official 1984 Olympic medals by Casey Wasserman, chair of the Los Angeles 2028 organizing committee who is under scrutiny for links to late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

Trump has also asked FIFA President Gianni Infantino if he could keep the World Cup trophy, been given the 24-karat gold-plated trophy intended for English soccer team Chelsea after its Club World Cup victory, and accepted the Nobel Peace Prize intended for Venezuelan opposition leader María Corina Machado.
