As you continue to work with energy and your practice begins to develop and grow, you may explore invoking an archangel into your practice or Reiki sessions. Maybe incorporating an archangel or archangels is something that has always been a part of your practice and healing journey.

Some practitioners believe that inviting an archangel into their practice or session will help strengthen the energy.   Depending on your relationship and connection to that particular archangel or archangels,  their presence could offer guidance and a sense of comfort and protection.

Although the use of Archangels was not original to the Japanese system of Reiki, as a modern-day practitioner, you have the freedom to adapt your practice and offerings.  For instance, during your invocation or Reiji-ho, call the archangel to ask for assistance and guidance, and as you end your session, offer your thanks to that archangel. Reiki has no dogma or religion attached to the system; however, many believe the usage of an archangel or archangels or saints brings in a religious aspect.

As we observe from the lineage of past teachers, we can see the evolution of Reiki that shifted with the times. Even the expansion of various complementary systems or speciality systems of Reiki, such as Angel and Angelic Reiki. 

As modern-day practitioners, after the shutdown due to COVID-19, we have made adjustments in Reiki for online offerings, online training sessions, online attunements, and on-demand recordings. As our world continues to change, many practitioners find the need to offer a more eclectic or modern approach, such as adding crystals, sound bowls, and archangels into their sessions. It is really up to the practitioner to color it spiritual or religious while being mindful and honoring a Traditional Reiki approach. Depending on the system of Reiki, the lineage of teachers, and the preference of the practitioner, the practitioner can have a practice or offering that encompasses different “types of Angelica figures,”  each with a specific purpose of healing.

Integrating Archangel Raphael into a Reiki session assists in bridging traditional Usui energy healing with celestial assistance and guidance. This combination enhances the healing experience, focusing deeply on physical and emotional renewal.

When to bring in Archangel Raphael

Archangel Raphael, the master healer, is in the angelic realm; the Angel of Healing.  Archangel Raphael emits a vibrant, emerald-green light. This frequency resonates with the heart chakra, emotional balance, and physical restoration. Reiki practitioners invite his presence to amplify the life force energy, assisting in clearing stubborn blockages and providing comfort to clients. He may be of assistance in helping those who are struggling physically, mentally, emotionally, or spiritually.

As a practitioner, you can seamlessly weave Raphael’s energy into your  Reiki practice by:

1. Creating a sacred space to anchor the space before the client arrives. Kenyoku, or dry bathing for yourself.
2. Use visual anchors: Place green crystals like emerald or jade around your space or near the massage table.
3. Scents: If the client is not sensitive to scents, use essential oils associated with Raphael, such as lavender, peppermint, or frankincense.
4. Place Reiki symbols around your sacred space.
5. Invite Archangel Raphael into your space.
   • Example: “I call upon Archangel Raphael: please help guide my hands to help magnify this Reiki energy and bring deep healing for the highest good.“
6. The invocation begins during your initial grounding meditation. Before touching the client, silently invite the angel’s presence. Invite or use any symbols as needed in the session.
7. Scanning and Visualizing. Visualize Archangel Raphael standing, wrapping his wings around you and your client.
8. Visualize emerald-green light flowing from the universe, merging with the golden-white Reiki energy entering your crown chakra.
9. Hand Positions. Direct the blended energy through your palms during standard hand placements.
10. The Heart chakra: Spend extra time here. Ask Archangel Raphael’s green light to directly align with the heart center to dissolve grief, trauma, and emotional walls.
11. Areas of Pain: If a client has physical injuries, visualize Archangel Raphael directing a l beam of green light through your hands directly into the affected tissue or bone.
12. Clearing Blockages. When you encounter stubborn energetic stagnation, silently ask Archangel Raphael to assist. Visualize his hands gently clearing the heavy energy, then immediately replacing it with loving, restorative green light.
13. Closing the Session: Grounding the client. Visualize Raphael’s green light softening into a protective shield around the client’s aura.
14. Do Kenyoku or dry bathing to seal the session.
15. Express gratitude to both the Reiki and Archangel Raphael for their guidance and protection.

Combining Archangels with Reiki can offer unique advantages, from relief from physical discomfort to a profound sense of peace and divine support. This is really the essence of Reiki: to share this gift with humility and faith that the energy will do what it needs to do for the higher good.
