I've had my differences with Jacksonville, Florida Sheriff T.K. Waters, a Black Republican incidentally, over deputy use of force toward Black motorists with minor traffic violations. 'Lo and behold', here's something we finally agree on.

Waters, along with Florida's Attorney-General, oppose the amnesty proposal floated by the state's Immigration Enforcement Council. The Council is led by popular Polk County Florida Sheriff Grady Judd, who's taken a very unpopular stand. In such a 'law and order' jurisdiction where citizens are arrested, sometimes forcefully, for questioning minor traffic violations, his pro-mass migration letter sent to President Trump is a slap in the face. It elevates illegal aliens as being above the law.

Sheriff Carter's agency has arrested nearly 1,300 migrants over the past two years. This is in addition to thousands of citizens handcuffed for matters critics say didn't require incarceration nor contested use of force.

As a 'foundational Black American', I'm always on the alert for special treatment getting heaped upon groups favored by powers-that-be. Black Floridians don't get a break from sheriffs there. They are expected to follow the law or face swift consequences.

The same should apply to illegal aliens.

On this one issue, I agree with the Sheriff of Jacksonville, FL. It seems he's defying 'cheap labor lobby con-servatives' who don't want to pay citizens decent wages. The GOP has to decide whether it's dedicated to saving money for tightwad donors or saving demographics of the country they claim to love so much.
