Jimmy Kimmel on Thursday revealed that the federal government recently sent him a check and, much like COVID-19 stimulus checks in 2020, President Donald Trump’s name found its way onto it.

The late-night host declared that Trump “loves putting his name on checks – as long as the money isn’t his” before pulling a check from his blazer.

In September, Amazon reached a $2.5 billion settlement with the Federal Trade Commission, which had brought a lawsuit during the Biden administration, claiming that the online retail giant had duped millions of customers into signing up for Prime subscriptions, then made it difficult for them to cancel. The settlement resulted in Amazon agreeing to pay $1.5 billion to customers who had unintentionally enrolled in the Prime service or were otherwise deterred from canceling it.

Some of that money apparently went to Kimmel, who showed off a $51 check on the air that, per an attached letter, was the result of “President Trump’s Federal Trade Commission” settling with Amazon.

“It says three times, President Trump’s FTC. Well, thank you, Mr. President. I’m going to use this to buy six minutes of health insurance,” Kimmel quipped in a nod to the GOP’s rejected plans to pay Americans up to $1,500 for health expenses rather than extend soon-to-expire health care subsidies. “Usually, to get a check with Trump’s name on it, you have to spank him with a magazine and agree not to tell anybody about it. So, I figured I’m ahead!”
