Judge Cameron Currie, a Bill Clinton appointee, dismissed the lawsuits on the grounds that Lindsey Halligan, formerly an insurance lawyer connected with President Donald Trump, wasn’t lawfully appointed to her position as a U.S. attorney.
Although the judge dismissed the case without prejudice, meaning it could be filed again, James was happy with the course of events, based on a post she made on social media, shortly after the dismissal:

James, who successfully prosecuted a civil lawsuit against Trump for defrauding bankers about his net worth, was indicted on allegations of bank fraud last month after the president demanded Attorney General Pam Bondi prosecute his political enemies.
The now-dismissed suit accused James of misrepresenting information on official paperwork about two properties she owned — a townhouse in Brooklyn, New York, and a house in Norfolk, Virginia.
James pleaded not guilty to the charges, which only came after a Trump-appointed prosecutor in Virginia was pushed out from his role in September, reportedly because he was skeptical the cases against Comey or James were strong enough.
