Orgo-Life the new way to the future Advertising by AdpathwayTrump donor Eric Deters threatened legal action Monday against outgoing U.S. Ambassador to Greece Kimberly Guilfoyle, whose legal team insists Deters owed her money despite a bombshell Wall Street Journal report that Guilfoyle was soliciting bribes.
“Well, I’m going to be suing those lawyers, that law firm, and Kimberly Guilfoyle here in Kentucky,” Deters promised on CNN Monday night of the claim he owed her money. “It’s gonna be fun.”
The Journal reported that Guilfoyle pressured Deters to pay off her massive $100,000 credit card debt undetected before her September confirmation hearing last year in exchange for more access to the Trump administration.
“Honey please, I need you to get this done for me today,” she wrote to Deters on the Signal messaging app, the Journal reported.
Guilfoyle has since disputed the authenticity of the Signal messages in a statement provided by her attorney, who claimed Deters owed Guilfoyle a balance for speaking engagements and consulting that she was seeking to collect before her ambassadorship began.
Asked how he would respond to that claim on Monday, Deters told CNN’s John Berman: “I do not owe any money [to] Ambassador Guilfoyle, and that’s why I’m going to sue ’em for defamation.”
The Journal reports that Guilfoyle was also caught on tape bragging to a businessman and promising to make him “a lot of fucking money.”
President Donald Trump confirmed Monday that he was considering firing Guilfoyle, adding, “We’re not happy.”
Responding to that news, Deters predicted, “I think she’s gone. I think he has to fire.”
Guilfoyle confirmed Tuesday on X that she is leaving her position, denying the allegations against her.
“I have dedicated my professional life to fighting for justice, standing up for what is right, and defending the values that make America exceptional. I will not allow false accusations to define my decades of public service,” she wrote.
“I think she could have survived all this stuff over in Greece because it’s over in Greece. I think what I’ve presented she can’t escape from,” Deters told Berman. “It’s grifting on the highest level, and it’s just an awful look for the administration.”
Describing Guilfoyle’s legal team’s claim that he owed her money, Deters added:
“And you know what’s so funny? If I was such a cash-strapped millionaire, then how come I have never had to pay one single person one nickel in any litigation-type expense? I’m just fine.”
“But I can tell you who’s not fine: Kimberly Guilfoyle,” he said.
