Rep. Ro Khanna (D-Calif.) viciously trolled President Donald Trump on Tuesday when asked if he had received his dividend check from the so-called Department of Government Efficiency yet, but offered the president a way to fulfill his promise to Americans.

Khanna laughed when asked by a reporter outside the Capitol ahead of a late-night session what he spent his DOGE dividend on.

“You know, Donald Trump has promised a check to the American people 15 times, and none of them have come through,” Khanna told reporter Pablo Manríquez. “Bernie Sanders and I have a bill, Tax the Billionaires. You’d actually get $12,000 to families under $150,000.”

Khanna further said that Trump could make good on his promises by meeting with him and Sanders to pass the bill.

Trump also suggested he can single-handedly decide to issue such checks, though House Speaker Mike Johnson has said congressional approval would be required.

Critics of the president have pointed out the proposed checks are tantamount to a voter bribe.

Trump will likely never come close to issuing anything like these checks, as they would cost American taxpayers a little north of $1 trillion, according to an analysis by the Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget.
