ELON Musk has unveiled an incredible flying sports car which uses SpaceX rocket technology to take off and soar through the sky.

Daring footage shows the new Tesla Roadster speeding up an arched ramp before flipping mid-air and deploying air jet boosters to help it glide and safely land.

The two-person car can accelerate from 0 to 60mph in just 0.81 seconds and can reach a top speed of 230mph.

An unbelievable second stunt saw the Roadster leap over a line of flashy Teslas parked side-by-side while rocket boosting through the air.

It is the latest spellbinding development from tech whiz Musk who proudly displayed the futuristic motor before letting it show off its aerial abilities autonomously.

There was no driver sat inside the car during the demonstration as the world’s richest man joked it was done so “we don’t kill anyone”.

He told the huge crowd out in Texas: “Success is not guaranteed. I mean that.

“It’ll probably work, but if it doesn’t work, we’re at a safe distance.”

A jubilant Musk said after the successful test run: “Well, it worked. Flying cars are real.”

The car is able to stay in the air for prolonged periods of time due to 10 specialised nozzles and what Musk describes as “ultra high-pressure air tanks”.
