The government shutdown brought to light many questions concerning the SNAP program. The major one concerns the extent of fraud within the program.

In July, the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) directed states to share data regarding their Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), commonly known as food stamps. This data includes recipients' names and immigration statuses. The USDA stated that this initiative aims to verify recipients' eligibility and to detect instances of overpayments and fraud.

In response to the demand for information, 22 states and Washington, D.C. filed a lawsuit, claiming that the data request was illegal and arguing that the gathered information would likely be used for an immigration crackdown.

Here we go again with Democrats trying to redirect blame and confusing the issue of right and wrong. There is absolutely no reason for Democrats not to hand over the information. Both parties should want to eliminate fraud and the waste of taxpayers’ hard-earned money. By requiring recipients to reapply, it will bring those receiving funds illegally into the sunlight, and the savings will be substantial.

On Tuesday, Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins stated that 29 "red states" have complied, while 21 states, including California, New York, and Minnesota, have refused to provide the data.

During a cabinet meeting at the White House, Rollins stated:

“As of next week, we have begun and will begin to stop moving federal funds into those states until they comply, and they tell us and allow us to partner with them to root out this fraud and to protect the American taxpayer.”

Naturally, the Democrats tried to project their wrongs onto President Trump by painting their incompetence and treasonous behind-the-scenes activities as them being noble. Which is leftist lingo for lying through their teeth.

Massachusetts Governor Maura Healey whined in her statement:

“This is truly appalling and cruel. The Trump Administration is once again playing politics with the ability of working parents with children, seniors, and people with disabilities to get food.”

Someone inform Healey that every dollar spent on this program is funded by the federal government, meaning it's taxpayers’ money. The government has the right to audit how the money is being spent, and the states that won't comply are obviously hiding wrongdoing in their ledgers.

One of the North’s wicked witches, New York Governor Kathy Hochul, offered this pathetic statement on X:

“President Trump needs to order Secretary Rollins to release SNAP funding immediately and prevent more Americans from going hungry. Why is the Trump Administration so hellbent on people going hungry?”

Leave it to Hochul to ask the wrong questions. The correct questions are, “What are you hiding, and why won't blue states allow their books to be examined?”

Enough is enough. The Democrats need to take responsibility for their actions as well as their inactions. If people end up suffering, the blame falls squarely on the shoulders of fascist governors like Healey and Hochul, who screw over their constituents, lie about it, and then attempt to blame Trump.
