Orgo-Life the new way to the future Advertising by AdpathwayWhat Indigenous prophecies tell us about this time, and how to align with the Creator during this planetary shift that has been prophesied for millennia. This is the second session of Standing With the Creator: Building Spiritual Capacity the Arikara Way, a seven-part series from the Sounds True Foundation with Jasper Young Bear, tribal elder and member of the Mandan, Hidatsa and Arikara Nation. It opens with three questions from the first session. Do I have permission to pray and practise in this way, or is it cultural appropriation? He answers directly: he has full rights over the Arikara way, he has the ability to bestow it, and if he says you can, you can. What is the essence of sacrifice for someone without the health, the age or the community for the arduous ceremonies? Everything you do for the Creator matters, he says, whether it is four days or half an hour, and the first rule of all of it is voice and choice; he tells the story of refusing to run a ceremony for a young man who did not want it. And how should we listen to teachings like these? Not with logic alone, because the tree of life is a dream, and there are only two rules in Arikara: do the best you can, and don't give up. Then the prophecies. He speaks about the great overarching prophecy of the sacred tablets and the uniting of the human family, and about how it scales down to each person: each one of you is a prophecy, and every step toward your purpose fulfils it. He speaks about the dark power and the present moment, about bringing light and darkness to the centre until what seems to be two is seen to have always been one, and about his own healing journey, which began with getting mad and ended with forgiving the unforgivable. He says prophecy is a guide and not a sentence, that choice changes it, and that the one he wants to see is the eagle and the condor, the peoples of North and South America recognising each other as one. Asked how to stop being ruled by the fear of death, he answers from his own experience: there is nothing to fear, his people never say goodbye but only I will see you again, and you only have to be brave for 25 seconds. He closes with a teaching on sacred music, the drumbeat from slow to fast and back, the highest pitch and the lowest, and the instruction to make a song that says I forgive everybody, I love everybody, heal Mother Earth.
