Republican California gubernatorial nominee Steve Hilton met with voters in Stockton as he campaigns for governor. Speaking to a crowd in the Central Valley, Hilton criticized California’s gas prices, taxes, homelessness, crime and corruption while outlining his campaign’s priorities. Hilton also criticized Democratic opponent Xavier Becerra over immigration policy and campaign financing, and pledged to reduce costs for California residents if elected. The 2026 California governor’s race pits Hilton against Becerra in the November general election. Recent independent polling has shown Becerra leading Hilton statewide.
