The trial of a former Ukrainian military officer accused of masterminding the 2022 Nord Stream pipeline attacks has begun in Germany. Prosecutors allege he led a team of divers and explosives experts responsible for sabotaging the pipelines, while his defense team argues there is no direct evidence proving his guilt. The defense also questions Germany’s handling of the case, arguing that political and economic interests could influence the proceedings. The suspect denies involvement, and his attorneys are seeking to have the charges dismissed.
