Orgo-Life the new way to the future Advertising by AdpathwayPresident Donald Trump took aim at another media outlet on Monday by filing a $10 billion lawsuit against the BBC.
Trump’s suit follows threats he’s repeatedly made against the British broadcaster over the editing of its documentary program “Panorama.”
In an episode of the show that aired about a week before the 2024 election, “Panorama” had spliced together clips of Trump’s speech at the Ellipse ahead of the January 6 insurrection.
“In one part of the ‘Panorama’ show special broadcast in October, Trump appears to say he was going to walk to the Capitol with his supporters to ‘fight like hell,’” HuffPost’s Sebastian Murdock explained.
“Trump actually said he would walk with them ‘to peacefully and patriotically make your voices heard.’ It was later when he called on his supporters to ‘fight like hell.’”
In a November statement, the BBC admitted that the edit gave “the mistaken impression that President Trump had made a direct call for violent action” and apologized for it, while pushing back on claims of defamation.
“They actually put terrible words in my mouth having to do with January 6 that I didn’t say, and the beautiful words that I said, right?,” Trump alleged during remarks in the Oval Office on Monday.

The broadcaster also declined to provide compensation along with its apology, which Trump had demanded.
In a suit filed in federal court in Florida this week, Trump alleged that the BBC’s documentary was an attempt to interfere in the 2024 election and advance a “false” and “disparaging” depiction of him.
He’s seeking $5 billion in damages for defamation and another $5 billion in damages for the violation of a Florida trade practices law.
Previously, BBC Chair Samir Shah said the company was “determined to fight” any Trump lawsuit, according to an internal November email obtained by Sky News.
A BBC spokesperson did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
The broadsides against the BBC are the latest Trump has levied toward a media organization and come after another $15 billion suit he recently filed against The New York Times.
ABC News also previously settled a defamation case brought by Trump for $15 million after he targeted comments made by anchor George Stephanopoulos, who misstated the verdict of a lawsuit brought by writer E. Jean Carroll.
