The U.S. Navy celebrates its 251st birthday on October 13, honoring more than two centuries of service, sacrifice and maritime history. Established as the Continental Navy in 1775, the Navy has grown from a small fleet of armed ships into a global maritime force. This year's theme, “Unwavering Vigilance, Unmatched Lethality,” highlights the service's mission and continued commitment to national security. Celebrations include Navy band performances, ceremonies and heritage events honoring the sailors who have helped shape the Navy's legacy.
