President Donald Trump’s AI-charged social media marathons should be a red flag, according to a one-time White House insider.

As the president continues to regularly spend weekends flooding Truth Social with dozens of wild posts and fan art, former staffer Sarah Matthews told the New York Times that seeing him unleashed online was like “watching his brain rot in real time.”

Matthews, who served as a deputy press secretary during Trump’s first administration, reminded people how strange the social media sprees were for an elected official, let alone the man serving in the highest office in the U.S.

“He floods the zone with so much of it that we’ve become numb to just how bizarre it is,” she said.

“An 80-year-old president is spending a ridiculous amount of time consuming and reposting endless AI fan fiction portraying him as the biggest, strongest, and most important person alive,” Matthews said of his posts,

Recently, Trump’s Truth Social page has featured an AI-generated image of him marching with an army of robots, as well as the idea of renaming New Mexico to “New America.” His content also sparked a diplomatic incident when he shared a map of the U.S. sprawling all the way to Greenland and Iceland this past Monday.

“It feels like we’re genuinely watching his brain rot in real time,” added Matthews, who resigned from the White House after the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol.

Trump’s ex-staffer is not alone in her concerns. On Wednesday, Rep. Robert Garcia (D-Calif.) told CNN the president’s “unhinged” feed even has Republicans worried about his mental health and potential political backlash.

White House spokesperson Davis Ingle spun the criticism in a statement to the Times, where he said, “Truth Social is the most powerful and popular social media platform in the world because it serves as President Trump’s authentic voice, where he communicates directly with the American people and the world without the biased media taking him out of context.”
