Caroline Myss opens with a blessing and then takes you off the planet. Not to escape, but to observe. What is going on at this time in human evolution? Her answer is that the way we have understood life, ourselves, our own power and how we are connected to each other is no longer wide enough, deep enough or truth-filled enough to sustain us for the next leg of the human experience. She compares it to the moment the Western world discovered the earth was round. The world was always round, she says, and that is the important part. Humanity lacked the wherewithal to see it, then saw it, and it changed navigation, wind, everything. In the same way, a whole collection of ideas about God, energy and power is now evaporating. The universe, she suggests, works by collective downloads that reshape us without our noticing, and she traces one of them to the nuclear age: the sudden appearance, in the sixties, of a sentence nobody had said before. I create my reality. A high mystical truth, arriving just as we discovered our power to destroy, and telling us that the only way to survive this era is to evolve to a place where we become incapable of even thinking about the weaponry we have.
