MS NOW host Jen Psaki on Tuesday skewered new White House press secretary Katie Zacharia over her rather rocky start, showing viewers a flurry of cringeworthy clips from her first press briefing and mocking her controversial performance.

A former White House press secretary herself, Psaki kicked things off with Zacharia’s introduction — in which she stated how “honored” she is to serve Trump and have his “trust.” Zacharia then confessed that she has wanted to work for him “for a very long time.”

“Oh, Katie, Katie, Katie,” Psaki said Tuesday. “I am so deeply uncomfortable already, and I’ve watched it multiple times today. Not going to lie, that beginning part was rough. It was rough to digest, rough to watch. But listen, let’s focus on the positives.”

The “Briefing” host continued, “Not an easy job. You wished everyone a good morning — it was, in fact, morning — so, good job there. Read all those words, all by yourself, without having to sound anything out. At least not while standing behind the podium. Maybe before.”

Psaki continued mocking Zacharia by guessing things surely improved after this “jolting start.”

The MS NOW host swiftly crushed that expectation with another clip of Zacharia praising Trump’s supposed “blockbuster” rally in Youngstown, Ohio, and touting attendance of “record highs” — only for Psaki to show viewers actual footage of just how sparse the crowd was.

She then moved on to the Q&A portion, noting that the first question a White House press secretary typically takes is from The Associated Press, “because it’s one of the oldest and most trusted news organizations in the country” — while Zacharia called on Breitbart.

The right-wing outlet’s reporter lobbed a softball, asking if Zacharia will ensure that more “new media” sites like theirs will “continue to be heard here at the White House.” The novice press secretary enthusiastically confirmed as much, prompting further frustration from Psaki.

“At a time when we are in the middle of a war … when the president of the United States seems slightly-to-very off his rocker on most days, the hard-hitting question from Breitbart was, ‘Will you welcome in more outlets like Breitbart to the briefing room?’” Psaki said.

She noted, “And the shocking, news-breaking answer was, ‘Yes! Yes, we will!’”

Psaki said the reason is that “they want questions like that,” noting Zacharia faltered when Fox News reporter Peter Doocy asked “the only real” question — if the U.S. has stopped sharing intelligence with Ukraine — and she said, “I’ll have to get back to you on that.”

Psaki tore into Zacharia with “a couple of basics” to learn ahead of her second briefing.

“Russia invaded Ukraine four years ago,” she explained Tuesday. “Despite that, your boss has invited [Russian President] Vladimir Putin back into the world stage, and just had a warm and fuzzy-sounding call with him last week that ended with Trump lifting sanctions on Russia.”

Psaki continued, “The Ukrainians are suspicious for good reasons about your boss’s intentions and whether or not they’re getting the intel they need. So yeah, maybe that one, that should be on the tippy-top of the list of topics you’re prepared for next time.”
