And that’s just according to his own party.
Minnesota Republican Party Chair Alex Plechash balked Wednesday after President Donald Trump endorsed prominent election denier Mike Lindell for Minnesota governor.
In a blistering response to the news, Plechash urged Republicans in the state not to blindly follow Trump’s advice, citing Lindell’s “significant electability concerns” should he compete in the general election against Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.).
“When the going got tough under Tim Walz, Mike Lindell left Minnesota for Texas,” Plechash said in a statement, noting Lindell came in third at the state’s Republican convention.
“Now he wants Minnesota Republicans to overlook his serious financial baggage, public records showing tens of thousands of dollars in delinquent property taxes, significant electability concerns, and unanswered questions surrounding his running mate.”

Lindell, aka “the My Pillow Guy” on account of the pillow company he founded, is one of Trump’s most prominent supporters and a longtime espouser of Trump’s election lies.
In an amusing twist, Trump bungled Lindell’s nickname in his endorsement Wednesday, calling him “pillow man.”
Last year, a federal judge ruled Lindell had defamed Smartmatic with false statements about the company’s voting machines after he repeatedly claimed it rigged the 2020 election. Lindell also lost a similar suit brought by Dominion Voting Systems that was ultimately settled out of court.
In 2023, his primary counsel in the case moved to drop him as a client over millions of dollars in unpaid legal fees.
That same year, Lindell was also ordered to pay $5 million to a software engineer who won a “Prove Mike Wrong” challenge. At Lindell’s invitation, the man showed that data Lindell had cited as proof that Trump had actually won the 2020 election did not, in fact, prove any such thing.
“Nobody has sacrificed more than Mike Lindell in fighting for our country, especially when it comes to Election Integrity,” Trump wrote in his endorsement. “He truly deserves everything he gets.”
