Perhaps she couldn’t talk because she was just so full from eating red meat.

Sen. Cindy Hyde-Smith (R-Miss.) — who went viral for suggesting Americans “pick another protein” if they can’t afford beef — is getting roasted online again, and this time is for saying much, much less.

President Donald Trump introduced Hyde-Smith at her own campaign rally in Corinth, Mississippi, Monday, and she delivered a speech that only consisted of nine words: “Is this not the best president in our lifetime?”

Her speech was so brief, in fact, that it even seemed to throw off Trump. After Hyde-Smith said her single line, she began to back away from the podium, and the president attempted to push her back toward the mic. After they both exchanged glances, in which Hyde-Smith did a lot of awkward smiling, Trump kissed her on the forehead, and she rushed off the stage.

Despite appearing a tad flummoxed from Hyde-Smith’s three-second speech, the president seemed to enjoy it.

“Thank you, Cindy. I love that. You know, sometimes they get up and they talk for 10 minutes… that was one of the best I’ve ever — Cindy, that was good,” Trump said.

Hyde-Smith has put her foot in her mouth in the past — aside from her notorious “protein” quote — so perhaps her short speech was just a cautionary move. In 2018, a video of her repeatedly making sexist jokes during a keynote speech at a 2011 Mississippi Farm Bureau convention was unearthed.

“If your wife is knocking on the front and the dog is barking at the back door, which one do you let in first?” Hyde-Smith asked the crowd at the time. “The dog, of course. It quits barking when it gets inside.”
