Orgo-Life the new way to the future Advertising by AdpathwayPresident Donald Trump managed to say one of the least reassuring things possible when Time magazine asked if Americans should be worried about Iran retaliating against the U.S. for its bombing of the Middle Eastern country.
“I guess,” Trump told Time.
“But I think they’re worried about that all the time. We think about it all the time. We plan for it,” the president continued. “But yeah, you know, we expect some things. Like I said, some people will die. When you go to war, some people will die.”
The Trump administration’s reasons for the attacks have shifted throughout the week, with White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt saying Wednesday that the strikes came after the president had “a feeling, based on fact.”
So it’s no surprise that many people on social media were aghast at Trump’s “I guess” remark.
The reactions came in fast and, yes, furious.
“I guess”.
You’ve got to be kidding me. We have totally unserious, completely incompetent people taking us into mindless deadly war. https://t.co/rUlj3hDYkm
Take note, Trump is talking about the possibility of people dying at home — in the US — as the result of what he again calls a “war” in Iran.
A war he’s still yet to articulate a clear reason for initiating nor a plan for ending. https://t.co/uXzhEekOvS
Literally any other President in history would talk about how his most important job is protecting the American people, how he is directing federal agencies to mitigate threats, reassuring the nation that he has their safety in mind. This guy says, "You might die, shit happens."
