Orgo-Life the new way to the future Advertising by AdpathwayCNN’s chief data analyst Harry Enten has delivered his final forecast for the 2026 midterm elections. And the numbers show Democrats have their strongest chance yet of taking control of both chambers of Congress.
In the latest episode of “The Enten Scale,” Enten put Democrats’ chance of winning back the House at 92%, forecasting a final breakdown of 237 Democratic seats to 198 for Republicans.
The Senate is much closer, but Enten said Democrats now have a 71% chance of taking control. “That is a huge chance, but it’s still not 100%,” he noted. “Republicans still have a 29% chance of holding on to the United States Senate. And that ain’t nothing.”
Enten’s final forecast has Democrats holding 52 Senate seats after the election to the GOP’s 48.
He stressed his usual caveats that the numbers are a forecast rather than a guarantee and pointed to the GOP’s frequent outperforming of expectations in polling.
But he also highlighted several factors working in Democrats’ favor, including Donald Trump’s historically poor net approval rating, which he joked sees the president “down there swimming with the Little Mermaid,” record-low approval of Congress, and the political significance of inflation.
