Longtime Democratic strategist James Carville on Tuesday tore into Donald Trump while hitting back at those who suggest critics like him are too obsessed with the president.

On the latest episode of his “Politics War Room” podcast, Carville tongue-in-cheek claimed to have a full-blown case of “Trump Derangement Syndrome,” not an official medical diagnosis, but a partisan insult commonly used by Trump and his MAGA supporters to dismiss his critics.

“I got it, and I want it, and I want it to get worse. If I could take a pill that would help me hate that motherfucker more and obsess on him more, I would take that pill,” Carville said of his so-called “TDS.”

He dismissed the suggestion as “bullshit,” saying, “there’s something wrong with people that are obsessed about the state of the United States, that believe that this country is in the midst of a corruption like it’s never experienced before.”

He said at another point, “If you still with Trump or you still think this, ‘Well, we got to try to see the good in him,’ then you’re a fucking idiot.”

Carville then doubled down on his self-described obsession with the president.

“I hate the son of a bitch. I hate what he’s doing to this country,” he said. “I’m obsessed with it. I can’t sleep at night. I get distracted. Sometimes, I think I got to call my physician or shrink and say, ‘You got to give me something, man. I got to calm down.’ But I don’t want to do it because I got a disease. I like the disease, and I’m going to keep it, and I hope I get rid of it sometimes around, oh, I don’t know, 2200 hours 3 November, 2026.”
