On Monday, the New York Times reporter and co-author of the new Trump tell-all, “Regime Change,” delivered a stark reality check about the president’s popularity during an appearance on CNN’s “The Source” with Kaitlan Collins.

Collins noted reports that some Republican politicians aren’t overly enthusiastic about attending the GOP’s first-ever midterm convention in Dallas next week because it would take them off the campaign trail.

“Not just off the campaign trail, but also forming fresh ad copy for Democrats to run against them,” Haberman replied.

Collins noted that Trump is polling spectacularly badly in a wide range of polls, and worse than Republicans overall.

Haberman acknowledged the public polling may not “entirely correlate with some private polling” but said, “There is no polling where this president is popular, let’s put it that way.”

“And there is no polling where he is not in trouble on the issue of affordability,” she continued, before pointing to the repeated use of the term during a recent White House healthcare event, despite Trump’s claim that it’s a hoax.

“This is the kind of thing that Republicans who are in these districts that are embattled do not want to be dealing with,” said Haberman.
